When to order caramel apples as a gift: a timeline by occasion
Order a week ahead at minimum and two weeks ahead in peak season. Here is a timeline for Halloween, Thanksgiving, teacher thank-yous and December client gifts, built around our Thursday-to-Monday ship rhythm.
If your caramel apple gift has a date on it, order at least a week ahead, and two weeks ahead from October through December. Our orders placed by Thursday ship the following Monday, and the apple is made to order, so the clock starts when you buy. This is a timeline by occasion, so you can pick the right moment to order.
How our order rhythm works
Three facts set the schedule. Everything else in this post follows from them.
- Every apple is made to order. Nothing sits in a case. An order triggers a new batch, and each apple is boxed and shipped the same day it is boxed.
- Orders placed by Thursday ship the following Monday. That line is printed in the footer of every product page.
- Best within five days of shipping. Caramel apples have a short window at their best. We size batches around it, as we say on our about page.
There is also an optional requested delivery date on the product pages. It is a request, not a promise. We will aim for that date, and we do not guarantee an arrival day. So use it to tell us what matters, and leave yourself a buffer of a few days anyway.
One more honest note: we ship to US addresses only.
A timeline by occasion
Use the lead time as a floor. Early is always fine, because the apple is not made until you order.
| Occasion | Order this far ahead | Best pick |
|---|---|---|
| Halloween party or fall birthday | 2 weeks | The Single Gift Apple, $15 |
| Teacher thank-you | 1 to 2 weeks | The Single Gift Apple, $15, or The Duo Box, $28 for two |
| Thanksgiving host gift | 2 weeks | The Duo Box, $28 |
| Client or team gift in December | 3 to 4 weeks | The Orchard Set, $52, or The Dozen, $105 |
| A friend who loves new flavors | 1 to 2 weeks | Seasonal Flavor Drop, $17 |
The lead times are our advice, not a delivery promise. They come from the Thursday-to-Monday rhythm plus the extra buffer you want when every other gift buyer is ordering at the same time. Demand for caramel apples peaks in October, November and December, so the buffer matters most then.
Halloween, Thanksgiving and December
Halloween and fall birthdays. This is the most crowded moment. If the apple is for a party, a school event or a birthday, order two weeks out. A single apple is easy to carry and needs no cutting board.
Thanksgiving. A host gift should arrive before the day itself, ideally when the host is not in the middle of cooking. The Duo Box fits well: two apples, one box, and the host can share one or keep both.
December and corporate gifting. Clients, teams and office managers run on calendars, so start earliest here. The Orchard Set covers four people. The Dozen is ordered through a contact form, with bulk gift-wrapping, a custom card and invoice on request. That form flow takes more back-and-forth than a cart, so give it the longest runway.
If you are weighing ideas by recipient rather than by date, our guide to caramel apple gift ideas goes through who to send one to.
Pick the day it lands, not the day it ships
Because the best window runs five days from shipping, the arrival day matters as much as the order day.
- Choose a recipient who will be there. An apple on a porch for a long weekend is a worse gift than the same apple handed over on a Tuesday.
- Be careful with offices. Check that the office is open that week and that someone can take the box in.
- Skip recipients who are about to travel. The window is short.
- Send a short heads-up. A text saying "something sweet is coming" is the cheapest freshness tool there is.
When the box arrives, open it, look at the apple, and keep it away from heat and direct sun. Caramel softens when it warms. We do not publish a fridge-or-counter rule beyond that. If you want specifics for your recipient's climate, write to us at caught-wanting@sogoodmail.co.
Lock the size when you lock the date
Timing and size are one decision. If you wait on the count, you lose days.
Two small pieces of math help. The Duo Box is $28 for two apples, while two Single Gift Apples are $30, so the box is cheaper and arrives as one gift. And free US shipping starts at $28, which the Duo Box meets exactly. A single $15 apple falls below that line, so shipping is extra on its own.

Dairy and the note card, before you pay
Two things to settle at the same time as the date.
Dairy. Caramel contains dairy, so dairy is in every apple. Toppings vary by flavor combination, and each product page lists the full ingredient and allergen list. If your recipient has an allergy, read it before ordering. If something is unclear, email us.
The note card. Each box has a card slot. Keep the message short: a name and one good line is plenty. Product pages show a 140-character limit for the personal note, so it has to be short anyway.
Your next step
Pick the occasion from the table, count the recipients, and work backward: the day you want the apple to land, minus a few days of buffer, minus the Thursday cutoff. Then look at the product page that fits. The Single Gift Apple is the simplest place to start: one apple, gift-ready, $15. You can also see the full lineup in the shop.
