How many caramel apples to order for a gift, party or office

Order one apple per person, then pick the box size that costs least per apple. Here is the math for gifts, parties and offices, using our real prices.

Order one caramel apple per person, then pick the box size with the lowest price per apple for that count. For one or two people, that is The Single Gift Apple at $15 or The Duo Box at $28. For four, The Orchard Set at $52. For twelve or more, The Dozen at $105.

Below: the math, a quick table, and three real scenarios.

The one-apple-per-person rule

Caramel apples are rich. A whole one is a treat, not a side dish. So the simplest way to count is one apple for every person who should get one.

Some people will want to share a single apple at a party. That is your call, and it is the only reason to order fewer than your headcount. If the apples are gifts, give each recipient their own. A gift that has to be split is not a gift.

Two things can change the count:

  • Guests who may not eat it. Dairy is in every apple, so a guest with a dairy allergy cannot have one. Check the full allergen list on the product page before you order, and count those guests out.
  • People you are thanking, not feeding. A teacher gift or a client thank-you is one apple each. Nobody needs a spare.

Price per apple at each size

Here is what each option costs per apple, using the prices on the site today.

OptionApplesPricePer apple
The Single Gift Apple1$15$15
Seasonal Flavor Drop1$17$17
The Duo Box2$28$14
The Orchard Set4$52$13
The Dozen12$105$8.75

The per-apple price falls as the box grows. It does not fall evenly. The biggest drop is the jump to The Dozen.

Why two apples should be a Duo Box, not two singles

Two Single Gift Apples add up to $30. The Duo Box is $28 for two. It is cheaper and it is one box.

There is a second reason. Free US shipping applies to orders of $28 or more, and the Duo Box lands exactly on that line. A single apple at $15 sits below it. If you are sending one apple, that is fine. If you were about to send two, the Duo Box is the better order.

Three scenarios, worked out

A teacher gift for one classroom. One teacher, one apple: The Single Gift Apple at $15. Two teachers or a teacher and an aide: The Duo Box at $28.

A small family gathering of six. You could buy an Orchard Set ($52) and a Duo Box ($28) for $80. That gives six apples, with a note card in the Orchard Set. If a couple of people want to try the Seasonal Flavor Drop, swap in singles at $17 for those guests.

An office of 20. The Dozen plus two Orchard Sets gives 20 apples for $209. The Dozen is ordered through a quote request, with invoice on request for company accounts, so start that early rather than the week you need it. The Dozen also comes with bulk gift-wrapping and a custom card.

Past about ten apples, the math flips toward The Dozen. Ten apples from Orchard Sets and a Duo Box costs $132. The Dozen costs $105 and gives you twelve.

What to decide before you order

Count your recipients first, then check three things.

  1. Flavor combinations. The Duo Box lets you choose flavors for the two apples. The Orchard Set can be mixed or matched. If your group has strong opinions, mixing is the safer bet.
  2. Delivery date. The Duo Box page has an optional requested delivery date field. We will aim for that date. It is a request, not a guarantee, so order with room to spare. The site also notes that orders placed by Thursday ship the following Monday.
  3. The address. We ship to US addresses only. If the gift is going to an office, confirm someone will be there to receive it.

Add a note card message too. It is limited to 140 characters, which is enough for a thank-you and a name.

When to order more than you think you need

Order extra only if the apples are for guests at a party and the guest list is soft. One or two spares beat a gap. For gifts and thank-yous, stick to the exact count.

If you are still deciding who should get one, our caramel apple gift ideas post goes through the recipients and flavor pairings. If you are comparing us with other options, what to look for in a caramel apple gift covers it.

Next step: write down your headcount, find it in the table, and open the matching product page. One apple or twelve, the box is gift-ready from the start.
